In 1999, a group of innovators launched Microtune with a goal to develop the world's first single-chip RF silicon tuner. To date, Microtune has shipped more than 150 million silicon tuners. Microtune technology is instrumental in bringing RF signals (video, voice or data) to cable subscriber equipment, automobiles, airplanes, TVs and TV peripherals, and mobile consumer electronics devices. Cable set top boxes that use Microtune tuners can incorporate multiple tuners for DVR, Tru2Way and embedded cable modem functions without being bulky and expensive. And the world's first DOCSIS 3.0 ultra high-speed cable modems, including those for 8 downstream/4 upstream channels, were deployed using Microtune's specialized wideband tuners.
